We moved to Wichita Falls a few months ago and we absolutely love it here. There are a lot of reasons to love this quaint little border town – but hands down, our favorite part about living in Wichita Falls is that it is SO dog friendly.

We know it can be intimidating to bring your dog to a public place for the first time. So, we decided to sit down a compile a list of the best dog friendly spots in Wichita Falls:

corgi in wichita falls dog park

Lucy Park

#Lucypark

Lucy Park is the best place you’ll find for an afternoon walk. If you are looking for somewhere to stretch your legs, don’t overlook this beautiful 178-acre park nestled in the Wichita River bend. There is more than enough space to work on some loose-leash walking with nearly 2 miles of paved trails. At the end of the park’s most popular walking trail you will find “The Falls” – the namesake of Wichita Falls and a must-see when visiting north Texas.

If you are craving some good ole’ fashion burgers and beer, you should head over to  Backporch Drafthouse. Just sit back, relax, and enjoy fantastic customer service on their spacious dog-friendly patio. It’s the perfect place to unwind with your pup and enjoy some of the best food in town. Plus, they have a HUGE selection of craft beers on tap. No matter what you choose on their menu – we know you won’t be disappointed.

Local Tip – The patio can get be a bit breezy so I always recommend bringing a jacket just in case.

Frank and Joes Coffeehouse Wichita Falls dog friendly

Frank and Joe’s Coffee House

@frankandjoes

Going to Frank and Joe’s is so much more than another cup of coffee – it’s an experience! The atmosphere and customer service embody everything that I love about Wichita Falls. They arguably have the best drinks in town. The shop itself isn’t dog friendly (unfortunately), but the beautiful patio outside is. Don’t be afraid to kick up your feet and stay awhile.  If you don’t have time to sit down and get the full Frank and Joe’s experience, don’t worry. They have a drive thru.

Lake Wichita Park dog friendly

Lake Wichita Park

#lakewichitapark

Lake Wichita Park was the first place we took our dogs when we moved to Wichita Falls. It has everything (including a RC airplane landing strip). There are usually a variety of sporting events going on throughout the week on the numerous baseball, football, and soccer fields. Thankfully, there is plenty of parking to accommodate all the activities this park has to offer.

If you are feeling independent, walk down the paved trails, work on some training, or play in the expansive fields. If you are feeling social, stop by the off-leash dog park (divided into sections for big dogs and little dogs) or sit and watch a game for a tail-waggin’ good time.

Highlander public house Wichita Falls dog friendly

Highlander Public House

@highlanderpublichouse

One of the most unique places in Wichita Falls to dine, Highlander Public House gives a tasteful spin on Irish cuisine. The locals rave about the food – and I understand why. It is delicious! You will be living larger than life with their generous portion sizes and their spacious dog-friendly patio. It’s rumored to be the biggest patio in town, so there is more than enough room for your furry friend to tag along. If you get the chance – check our their Sunday morning brunch. It is my absolute favorite place in town for brunch.

Wichita bluff nature area Wichita Falls dog friendly

Wichita Bluff Nature Area

#Wichitabluffnaturearea

The Wichita Bluff Nature Area is a beautiful – secluded trail located just off Seymour highway. It’s a popular dog walking trail, but bikers and runners also enjoy the wide pathways and beautiful views. There isn’t much shade along the 1.2 miles of paved trail so make sure you bring lots of water and be mindful of your dogs paws since the pavement can get hot under the Texas sun. If you are looking for a scenic walk, this is the place to go!
